Art by Snowseasons/Catherine Arnold
This is a sketchbook drawing from late June, I think. This squirrel was either sprawling to cool off or to rest. Possibly the latter. It has many siblings, I think; they circle the trees, sometimes four at a time. That gets tiring, I suppose.
In other news, here’s a small-town newspaper after a visit to a very green (and naturally, hot) state park in July. The park was pretty; nice to be out there in the green cicada buzz by a river. The rangers had created a butterfly garden in which a yellow-black orb weaver had built a magnificent web. In the classifieds below, I liked that someone is selling okra for $3/pound, and another person is offloading a 2003 GMC Yukon, still running. A colleague said her family has one from 2000 that has held up, by the way.
Hope your season’s going well.
