[Hi, you may have read this on Tuesday. But there’s a short update at the bottom. Thanks!]
On Monday, my plan to give plasma as a side gig — generating income to save and invest — fell through because my veins are skinny.
Which is a little funny, really. But at the time, it meant a temporary shakeup. After all, I’d set an appointment and arrived on time, only to learn I couldn't stay and use my sketchbook and pencils during the anticipated wait time.
But, deciding to appreciate being out and about on a beautiful, cool day, I ended up at a library with my laptop — brainstorming work projects.
Wide windows revealed the occasional kid biking past, and it was interesting to see them careen past, new on their wheels. Some were on rides that stretched them like children’s book illustrations or Kermit (dream of the Frog Leg King) in the original Muppet Movie.
Sitting there, I realized: I’ll designate time for art. I’d like to build or access local and nonlocal community around that.
So here's the part of the plan
In the past, I bought three art courses on the creative education platform Domestika and haven't watched them. Would you like to watch virtually with me? There will be no charge because others’ Domestika (or Skillshare, or Creativebug) content isn’t mine to sell.
If you’d like to watch on my shared screen, we could start with Laura Varsky’s Professional Illustration: Turn Your Passion Into a Career.
We may skip around. *If you have an interest in listening in, or just want to say hi, reply here or message me on Substack. Then I can send you a link.
Session 1:
