Happy New Year! Have you been meaning to sketch more? Use or share this discount for 20% off FOREVER to this Substack and join us for daily drawing on Jan. 5. (Discount ends March 15).
In November and December I noticed what I’d been told — that with practice, I’d draw more nimbly and create characters that I could repeat. Do you want to draw something around you each day, just to keep in practice or to learn more or to gain ideas for other work? In the fall, we in the Draw Together sessions worked from our surroundings and YouTube videos to ink and sketch frequently. I drew the artist and head of Sketchbook Skool, Danny Gregory, three times — something I’ll discuss in a different post. In Draw Together sessions, I rendered several parrots (even if that sounds bloody, sorry!). In the most recent session, I created a character that I think could appear in a children’s story.
That’s why I’m opening up this Substack with a 20% off discount through March 15, as we start a late bloomer 30-day sketch. Won’t you join us? This practice will be fun and motivating for anyone from accomplished artists to newbies. Also, if you’re just here to watch or to hear about nature and/or urban planning, we’ll have content for you as well. In case anyone is concerned that I’ll email daily for 30 days, worry not. I will check in weekly or so and offer free Draw Together sessions and occasional process videos. Also, you will receive my cards and/or stickers in the mail.
Join me in late-bloomer 30-day drawing! I started on Jan. 1 but we’ll begin together on the 5th.
January 1-4 daily sketchbook pages are below. Want to join?
Free goodies
Whether you gather with us for 30-day drawing or not, consider following to hear about my workplace’s free sketch class. I’ll report back on this and other fun matters related to art, nature, and urban planning. And you’ll hear from me 3-4 times a month at most.
Thank you to everyone who follows or is a paid subscriber to Climbing Grasses. You’re making it happen. (Also, appreciation to Alex Mathers for his book The Indispensable Illustrator, which I’m enjoying so far and included in one of my January sketches above.)
